Mediation
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which the parties get together, with a mediator, to explore whether an acceptable compromise may exist to the dispute between them. The mediators practicing in the Treasure Valley are well-trained, and are often well-seasoned attorneys or retired judges. Their long experience and special training can often make the difference in an otherwise hotly disputed matter.
Mediation is typically voluntary, though a court may order the parties to participate in a mediation session in hopes of resolving a case before trial.
If there is any hope of resolution, the advantages to mediation can be significant: it typically saves money; the parties remain completely in control of their fate and can walk away at any time during the process; anything discussed in the mediation remains confidential; and, it can lead to a binding settlement agreement between the parties.
